Haunted : A simple story!

The Haunted House on the hill was one I had always wanted to see. Feeling brave on a dark and dreary night, my friends and I decided we would go exploring together as a group. We figured going together would be less of a threat than going alone. After all, we were all avid fans of all things paranormal and what better time to go than in the fall! If I had to describe to what this haunted house looked like, I’d say that it was a typical looking haunted house. The kind with the old and frayed wood structure with an upstairs with a small window and adjacent windows are filled with candles. You know, the kinds you see in movies. I think the fact that it looked so familiar was one of the main reasons we were curious to visit this place. When we arrived, we parked in the rocky gravel parking lot. Since we were the only ones there, the parking lot had abundant spaces available. We tried our best to park in a space closest to the house. Though there were spaces closer than others, the hike up the hill was quite a haul. In other words, we could tell just by looking at the hill that we were going to be out of breath by the time we reached the house. Fortunately for us, we spotted some rocking chairs on the porch. So if fatigue overtook us, we could definitely take a brief respite on the chairs. If they would withstand the weight of our over tired bodies of course. We were correct in assuming we would be out of breath by the time we reached our final destination: The Haunted House on the hill. We had to be careful as we climbed the flight of stairs. The stairs were loose and rickety due to old age. We had to take extra caution not to fall on our face or tip over our own feet Once on the porch, we noticed that the stairs were not in the best condition, falling apart ever so slightly with each footstep. The air was stale and still as can be, yet as we approached the first window which was a window to the bedroom, we noticed the curtains billowing in the “wind”. I guess you could say that was our first evidence of a spirit greeting us, and we had not even stepped foot into the house yet!! Though we already had chills up and down our spine from the first incident, we knew we were in for much more as we entered the house! Our skin felt light and chilled as we reached for the greasy door knob. We were all knocked back on our butts as the door slammed open hitting the living room wall with such force that it put a hole through the sheetrock! Of course, knowing the age of the house, we did not push it that hard. Maybe it was the same spirit opening the door that moved the curtains from the bedroom!! We were shivering as we took to our right, we noticed an old wooden bookshelf filled with books about the paranormal. The spines of the books were rubbed raw and the titles were faded due to age. As we approached the bookshelf due to interest, all of the sudden, all of the books came stammering off of the shelves!! We had to duck down all the way on our knees to avoid getting smacked in the face with the avalanche of books! Then, it got completely dark in the house, even the candles that were ever so lightly flickering went out and we saw this dark shadow with beaming red eyes tell us to GET OUT NOW! Shaking from being scared to death, we scattered out of the house before the demon could get to us! We were almost as if we were flying as an effort to get away from the terrifying sight! As we drove off, we were a thrilled that our visit to the haunted house lived up to our expectations! Though we loved scary moments and thrillers, I seriously doubt we would ever go back for our own safety….
